Earlier this year, Yuma Regional Medical Center became the first organization in Arizona to receive the Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This prestigious honor recognizes our commitment to creating a supportive and high-standard environment for our nursing staff. In celebrating this achievement, we want to spotlight the incredible dedication of our nurses, who make this recognition possible. Meet Karina Montoya, BSN, RN, CPN, PED-BC, a pediatric nurse in our Pediatric and Women's unit. Karina has been a nurse for 10 years and chose Yuma Regional Medical Center because she gets to work at a place that shows a caring culture and values patient- and family-centered care. After nearly 20 years at YRMC, this week, Senior VP and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Fred Peet will retire, leaving behind a long list of accomplishments and Information Technology advancements to our organization. While his list of contributions are extensive, Fred notes his favorite IT project over the years was the implementation of our Electronic Health Record system, a multi-year, major project that has greatly impacted both our staff and patients. When asked about YRMC, Fred had this to say, "Thank you, YRMC and Dr. Trenschel, for trusting in me to lead the IT Division for the past 10 years. I am beyond grateful."Fred, we are thankful for you and your contributions to our organization and community! We wish you a happy retirement!

Ten years ago today, the Yuma Regional Cancer Center was unveiled to the community. Not only did we open the doors to a new, state-of-the-art cancer facility, but we marked the beginning of comprehensive cancer care for our community members โ the kind of care they deserve. YRMC has demonstrated its commitment to top-notch cancer care by implementing many innovative advancements. We acknowledge, however, that our success belongs to our entire community. Without partnerships with medical professionals, community organizations, patients and families, these successes would not be possible. With plenty more to come, we look back with pride on our significant milestones and their positive impact on our friends and neighbors.
